FISH

Safe Eating Guidelines

Filet your fish
  • OEHHA’s fish advisories provide “safe eating guidelines” to help you choose the safest fish to eat and avoid fish species with high levels of chemicals in them

  • OEHHA’s advisories are based on sampling results for common fish species that people catch and eat from California water bodies

  • If you do not see a fish species listed for a water body, it does not mean you can eat it as often as you like. Rather, it is missing because the species has not been tested at that water body.
